The Foundation Board met on October 13, 2024. Previously, in Copenhagen on August 13, 2024, all Directors signed the Provenance and Copyright Agreement with complete exhibits detailing every artwork in the Else Madsen Collection. A Danish attorney has verified that the agreement provides the desired legal protections under Danish law. Subsequently, Bjørn and Sten Madsen gifted one artwork to Miana and Carlos Alvarez as a wedding present, and one artwork with an inscription by Else dedicating it to her daughter Kirsten, to Kirsten Madsen Moss. Ownership transfer affidavits will be signed by all parties to document the ownership transfers of the physical artworks. Copyrights of the two artworks remain the property of the Foundation.
While in Denmark, Directors Cid Galindo and Kim Galindo, and Curating Advisor Joe Arredondo selected approximately 50 oils on canvas and 150 works on paper for high resolution digital imaging by photography or scanner. These images are to be used in the publication of the Else Madsen Artist Monograph that the Foundation hopes to publish in 2025. The monograph will be organized into three parts; a family history authored by Kim Galindo, a technical analysis authored by a Danish academic to be selected, and a section of up to 250 high resolution images of selected works. Once all cost estimates associated with publication of the monograph have been assembled, the Foundation will prepare and submit a grant application to the New Carlsberg Foundation to help finance the publication of the monograph.
